Additives in chemical cleaning

Additives are widely used in chemical cleaning to improve cleaning efficacy, promote certain chemical reactions or speed up cleaning processes. According to the medium (alkaline, neutral, acidic) we offer you a choice of additives, as well as in particular our viscosity reducers.

Additives for cleaning in alkaline media

Our KEBOSOL and KEBOPLEX products are surface-active cleaning aids which are added to alkaline cleaning liquids. They reduce surface tension and facilitate penetration of the cleaning solution into pores and crevices to efficiently remove scale

"KEBOSOL" products contain activators and dispersants specifically designed for chemical cleaning.

The addition of our KEBOPLEX formulations prevents the formation of scale throughout the system.

Additives for acid cleaning

Compared to alkaline degreasing, which must be carried out in the range of 60 to 80 °C, the acid degreasers can be used universally even at room temperature. KEBOSOL-Products liquid degreasers are highly effective degreasers for salt and sulfuric acid solutions, with simultaneous inhibiting effect for the protection of metallic materials. Other KEBOSOL types can also be used as pickling activators in acid solutions, and as additives for flux baths. There, they reduce the surface tension of highly concentrated flux baths, and there is immediate wetting of the surfaces to be galvanized.

Additives in neutral medium

Solutions, with a pH value of 7, i.e. in the neutral range, are used in chemical cleaning when neither acidic nor alkaline conditions are required. They are often used to clean delicate materials.

Viscosity reducers


Our viscosity reducer KEBOSOL CA reduces the surface tension of the solution and thus foam formation. As a result, the bubbles that form are smaller and break down more quickly, reducing the stability of the foam. This allows for better solution mixing and improved crystal formation. KEBOSOL CA is a ready-to-use – ready-to-dose, non-ionic surfactant based alkoxylates and is FDA listed.

Auxiliary crystallization agents

To achieve optimal process flows and results in crystallization, there are various interfaces and starting points at which one can intervene in a supportive manner.

As, for example, with a SLURRY: a mixture of denser solids suspended in a liquid in which they are not soluble. A good slurry is characterized by its homogeneity, stability (in terms of sedimentation and agglomeration), desired viscosity, desired particle size and narrow distribution, flowability, chemical stability and durability.

Or a scale preventer or antiscalant to prevent scale formation in evaporator stations in the food industry, which starts before the actual crystallization process and keeps it stable. This leads to significant energy savings. Take a look at our overview to scale preventers, e.g. KEBO DS.

Also viscosity reducers, which provide for better mixing of the solution and thus improved crystal formation, are essential in this process step. Due to their properties, they can be easily added directly to the intermediate liquids and provide energy savings, higher density and a more stable process with more stable crystallization. 

Or also color reducers. Color is one of the most important characteristics for the quality of sugar, as it is directly related to its purity. Colors of molasses and other impurities may remain on the sugar crystal after crystallization.
