Color, purity, moisture, granulation and filterability are important factors for the quality of sugar. These properties are decided in the crystallization process, which can simultaneously improve yield and minimize reduce energy consumption. 

Our expertise lies in optimizing sugar production in these respects. We are proud to introduce our new white paper, which takes an in-depth look at sucrose crystallization. It is intended to serve as a valuable tool in sugar productions to optimize production processes and produce high quality sugar.

The whitepaper contains a comprehensive overview of the crystallization process, including relevant KPIs and proven procedures. We present the key process steps that lead to optimal control over crystallization and thus uniform sugar growth.

This involves:

  • a uniform crystal formation with homogeneous size,
  • the reduction of the viscosity of the crystal suspension,
  • the effective reduction of color intensity during and after crystallization to enhance color intensive sugar fractions in quality (especially at the end of the campaign).

A viscosity reducer with the following advantages at a glance:

  • More efficient utilization of the available volume in the vacuum ladle: Through improved filling, with lower viscosity of the sugar solution
       a. the mixture is more flowable and is easier to handle
       b.a more efficient mixing of the ingredients and better crystal formation is possible
    So more sugar fits into the vacuum ladle which leads to larger batches with the same ladle volume.
  • Facilitate the formation of crystals: A lower viscosity value facilitates the movement of solid particles within the liquid, resulting in improved mixing and a more uniform distribution of the crystallization nuclei in the sugar solution. This in turn promotes faster and more uniform crystal formation.
  • Reduction of clumping: An excessively high viscosity value can lead to clumping or agglomeration of the solid particles in the thick juice, which impairs the efficiency of crystal formation and can lead to uneven crystal sizes. By adding a viscosity reducer, the solid particles are better dispersed and clumping is minimized:
  • Increasing the flow rate: Lower viscosity of the thick juice allows a higher flow rate through piping and equipment components, which can improve the productivity and efficiency of the crystallization process.


Auxiliary for color and turbidity removal for the sugar industry. A cationic color and turbidity remover based on Poly-DADMAC. For juice and syrup purification in cane sugar factories or refineries. For improved removal of color from juice or syrup during phosphating or carbonation.


The clear advantages of KEBO SLURRY:

  • High efficiency or reduction of molasses loss and thus a high yield of additional sugar.
  • Excellent MA control
  • Lower and thus better CV: The coefficient of variation
  • improves by about 3% points – compared to conventional suspensions.
  • Whiter texture of the sugar crystal: The low CV value in the sugar crystallization leads to a whiter color and more uniform sugar structure.
  • Cosher and Halal certified
  • High Stability: The particle size distribution is very narrow. With fresh stirring KEBO Slurry is stable much longer.
  • Economic: About half of a KEBO SLURRY is needed compared to conventional seed suspensions.
  • Stability during storage: Temperatures between -20 ºC and 30 °C have no influence
  • on the quality, as measured by the results of the cooling crystallization test.
  • Ready to use: Ready-to-use solution with a fixed sugar content.

Some can be removed well with alkaline agents, others better in the acidic range. The large variety of conceivable cleaning problems and the large number of additives, inhibitors and ready-to-use cleaning solutions offered by us make it advisable to obtain detailed advice before starting cleaning.
